Hey y’all!
I celebrated my 28th birthday this week AND it was Valentine’s Day – I got to celebrate my 7th Valentine’s Day with my fiancé. I bought a little heart-shaped cake for us to share (pictures in the Treating section). He and I are counting down the days til our wedding in October!
READING
I hit a bit of a reading slump this week after finishing one of my ARCs. The Moonlight Healers by Elizabeth Becker is a beautiful multi-generational story of a family of women with healing powers. I think this will be really up some people’s alley and it’s well-written. I’m just realizing that I no longer want to read historical fiction set in WW2…
To get out of my slump, I finished Desperate Measures by Katee Robert, the first book in the Wicked Villains series focusing on Jafar and Yasmina. This was HOT – and I loved the inclusion of Katee’s footnotes in the new deluxe paperback version! It was really interesting seeing her thoughts on the page and helped me work on some things I’m toying with for the romance series I’m drafting right now. I can’t wait for the special edition of Learn My Lesson to come out in August!

EATING
I looooove picking up a chicken leg from my local Earth Fare, searing the skin til crispy, and then just popping them in the oven with a bunch of veg to roast. It’s so easy to get great flavor and keeps the chicken moist.

This week, I roasted the chicken with carrots and brussels. Before tossing the pan in the oven, I added a few pats of butter, some white wine, and some fresh thyme to build a sauce. Served over rice, this was such a delicious weeknight meal. (If you like my bowls and wine glass, they were handmade by my friend Lindsey of Bush Pots!)
PLAYING
I’m so excited for Lucy Dacus’s new album, coming out next month. Both of the singles have been stellar (and the music videos are fun!). Home Video, her previous album, was lovely but just wasn’t what I was hoping for, so I’m crossing my fingers that this album is more my style.
